Autumn in Nami Island

Namiseon Island or popularly known as Nami Island is a half moon-shaped isle 63km away from seoul. It became more popular after the koreanovela Winter Sonata. Remember the song of Regine Velasquez and eventually revived by Faith Cuneta “Langit ka, lupa ako.Hanggang tanaw na lang ba tayo? Mahal kita, mahal mo ba ako? Hanggang pangarap na lang ba ito? Kaya kong gawin ngunit di kayang sabihin…ang pag-ibig ko sana’y mapansin…”

The island have 4 different beauties depending on the season – Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall. The orangey-redish-yellowish colour of autumn is I believe the best season, atleast for me.

Disclaimer: lower your expectation that you can have a solo picture in the tree lane. There’s a lot of people out there, specially in weekends. there’s always a photobomber

Going there:

By bus: You can ride a bus from insa-dong/namdaemun to Nami island, the price is 23,000 won for foreigner including the visa fee.

By Train: Ride a train from any station of line 4 then transfer to Wangsimi Gyeongui-Jungang line then transfer again to Sangbong Gyeonchun line then alight to gapyeong, fare is 2,250 won. Then ride a taxi to ferry terminal and ride a ferry to Nami island – visa fee is 8,000 won for foreigner including ferry fare. – Cheaper way

Ferry to Nami Island

The travel time is about 2 hours and we were so hungry after so we took our lunch first before exploring the island. There’s a lot of korean restos and coffee shop inside – perfect for the cold weather.

You can ride a bike to explore the area but the island is pretty small so we just walked.

Tree lane

Gingko tree lane –  looks familiar? Yes, this is the setting of the winter sonata. Imagine it has snow.

There’s a lot of birds in the island, including peacock and ostrich!

There’s even a lion in the woods so be safe and stay alive

Just kidding. There’s no lion. Haha. The picture was taken at everland.

Autumn is super cold, the temperature reached to negative. But there’s a bonfire everywhere. I even spent 30mins reading my favorite book. Jk. The book is only for picture purposes.

After Nami island you can side trip to Petite France, just go back to the Gapyeong train station and ride a bus, take note of the bus schedule. The interval is 1 hour. You can print a voucher online to have a discount in the entrance fee.

Petite france is also famous because secret garden, my love from the stars and other korean shows shoot their.

You can also drop by at garden of the morning calm, but in our case, it is pretty late so we decided to go home.

Nami island is a great place. The tall trees and the falling leaves feel so magical, I never imagine that I experienced that since I live in a tropical country. Thanks to Nami Island for letting us experienced the real beauty of autumn.
